Yoga Nidra is a series of mind, body and awareness techniques that allow you to disengage from your thinking mind so you can experience deep relaxation.

Relaxation techniques are a great way to help with stress management. Relaxation isn't just about peace of mind or enjoying a hobby. Relaxation is a process that decreases the effects of stress on your mind and body. Relaxation techniques can help you cope with everyday stress and with stress related to various health problems.

Practising relaxation techniques can reduce stress symptoms by:

  • Slowing your heart rate

  • Lowering blood pressure

  • Slowing your breathing rate

  • Reducing activity of stress hormones

  • Increasing blood flow to major muscles

  • Reducing muscle tension and chronic pain

  • Improving concentration and mood

  • Lowering fatigue

  • Reducing anger and frustration

  • Boosting confidence to handle problems

Just as science has confirmed the health benefits of jogging, recent research into meditation suggests its benefits may make it something of a fitness regimen for the brain. There are over 3,000 scientific studies suggesting that meditation is good for us: increased vitality, lowered blood pressure, higher levels of the anti-aging enzyme telomerase, growth in the thickness of the pre-frontal cortex, increased immunity, lowered heart rate, stronger neural connections, better sleep, and greater relaxation and happiness. We can think of meditation as a way to “flex” the brain so that, like a muscle, it grows stronger with use.
